Two Videos

Making fun of cable news:

And of course:

Quite a Premise

Back in 1993, somebody decided to make a movie based on Super Mario Bros. Just watch the first 62 seconds of the film to get an idea the quality of the film. It then quickly deteriorates.

No Senate For Old Men

I admit I laughed pretty hard at this one.

Conservative nutjobs

Sometimes I get offending listening to conservatives. Other times I just laugh:

This is Leslee Unruh, President of the Abstinence Clearinghouse, a pretty big Evangelical organization promoting abstinence-only education. She is also an idiot, apparently.

Cool, I can make the player change colors!

More Star-Spangled Videos

I really wish I had known about these two videos when I was writing the last post. The first is a satire of the type of people who overdo their performances, the second is the most awesome seven-year-old I have seen all day:

These people should know better

Bart Simpson took a journey to Hanover:

The scandal has put the community at odds. They either scold the students for making poor choices or question the extreme competitiveness that could spark cheating.

Community members scrutinize police motives as well, wondering whether their tough stance is really a carefully orchestrated attempt to show impartiality toward privileged kids. (A doctor, professor, hospital president and journalist are reportedly among the parents.)

Mike Rotch, a junior, said the students deserve to be punished by their principal rather than a prosecutor.

"I think they are coming down hard. I mean, cheating is bad, but it's not like it's unheard of anywhere in America," he said.

Really, the reporter should been smarter than this.

Movie Reviews

I've always liked the guy who reviews movies for Willamette Week. Here's why:

Dead Silence: A mad ventriloquist haunts a small town in this effort from director James Wan (all three Saw movies). Not screened for critics, who have proved notoriously unfair to mad ventriloquists.

Firehouse Dog: There's this dog. He lives in a firehouse. The attorney general of the United States is accused of firing federal prosecutors for political reasons, but this matters not at all to the dog who lives in the firehouse. Because he's a dog. Yeah, it wasn't screened for critics.

The Hills Have Eyes II: The eyes are still not screened for critics.

Late Night Shopping: Slacker Brits work the night shift, talk, drink coffee. Think Kicking and Screaming, with accents.

Operation Homecoming: An NEA-funded project invites American soldiers to describe their experiences in Iraq. And the survey says..."Kind of shitty."

Free Floating: An absurdist unemployment comedy that somehow involves Chuck Norris. Who really can do anything.

Obaba: The plot is obscure, but it involves lizards that eat human brains. As lizards are wont to do

My Grandmother's House: Gets torn down.

Summer Palace: Love, revolution and Tiananmen Square. This should end well.

Dreaming by the Numbers: Let's get metaphysical at the lottery.

Au Revoir, Le PIFF

Screen Listings for the week of Wednesday April 4th thru Tuesday April 10th

Sexual Consent Form

I'd usually say yes to openness about sex, but this may be taking it a hair too far.

How I learned about Fuck

Something Art said in class made me think about how I first learned the word "fuck," and I have been at a loss for what to post so I'll write about this. I must have been about five or six at the time. I was very proud of how I could string together letters and make up words.
