Summersong

And summer arrives with a length of light,
And summer blows away and quietly gets swallowed by a wave.

"Summersong" - The Decemberists

Somethings that are on my mind as summer approaches:

I do not have any jobs lined up for this summer. Catlin's IT department was hiring back its previous members, and didn't need anyone new. I could not get myself that interested in working at the Clouds Hill Farm, and I do not wish to work at some restaurant. For now, I am considering an internship at Free Geek, which would allow me to do something with computers and charity, but would be unpaid.

I have just taken the SATs, and found them much easier than I had expected. The math section proved pretty simple, even considering I had forgotten my calculator at home. I am glad that it is over, but I wished I had taken back in May with everyone else, so I could take the SAT IIs this time around.

Academically, this year did not go as well I had wished. The year was not dreadful, but pretty bad considering what I am capable of if I try. College is becoming more and more real every day.

My ability to interact with people has improved, but I still do not feel as though I have any close relationships with anyone. As much as I hate to admit it, I have to be the one to change this, but I do not know how to.

Featured on the WTF

The title says it all. I actually managed to get an submission featured on The Daily WTF Worse Than Failure. The submission was a screenshot I had taken while changing the password for this site's domain hosting. And yes, it is genuine. Well, not the arrow, of course, but the message, yes.

Some of the better comments:

Jon: They are obviously proponents of quantum security - they want you to be in the superposition of both writing your password down and not writing it down. You'll only know which it is when you check to see if you did actually write it down or not (so don't do that!) ;-)

Simon: Maybe they're trying to do a little CYA. If you forget your password because you didn't write it down, then they can point to the first message, and if your security is compromised by writing the password down, they can point to the second.

As with all other problems in society, I blame lawyers. ;)

Will: Make sure that you haven't failed to ensure that you've never succeeded in forgetting to remember not to refrain from omitting the step of not not not not not not not not not not writing not down what not is not your not password, which you should never not keep not written not down in a not unsecure non-place.

Jon: Of course what you all should be doing is writing your password in a word processor, printing it, putting it on a wooden table, taking a photo of that, scanning it, then printing the result and sticking that to your monitor...

Pon: Congratulations.

You finally killed that fucking joke.

How I learned about Fuck

Something Art said in class made me think about how I first learned the word "fuck," and I have been at a loss for what to post so I'll write about this. I must have been about five or six at the time. I was very proud of how I could string together letters and make up words.

Internal Clock

My personal schedule has been totally distorted. I have gotten used to the idea of school only lasting a few weeks before breaks. Why? Lets look at the past week:
